Towson Watch Company has officially announced a partnership with Cameron Das, one of America’s best racing drivers and current champion of the Euroformula Open Championship. This collaboration between Maryland's premier luxury watchmaker and one of America's lead Formula One prospects, also from Maryland, is likely to result in a commercially available limited edition timepiece series that commemorates Cam's story and creativity on and off the track.
TWC sets itself apart from the European luxury mechanical watchmakers in the sense that it is an American company, an attribute shared with us by very few in the space. Yet TWC’s most significant distinction from most American mechanical watchmakers rests within the actual watchmaking process, by designing, prototyping, and assembling all of its watches in-house.
Cameron Das, an American race car driver and recent TWC ambassador shares a similar story. Not only is he one of America’s top prospects due to compete in the European-dominated Formula 1 Championship, but like TWC, sets himself apart from the competition through his role off the track.
Das was the first American to ever win the Formula 4 championship, and now, at the age of 21, is performing at his best, dominating the Euroformula Open Championship with ease and looking towards his next season in F2, seeking F1 soon following.
Not only is Cam a remarkable talent on the track, but his ability off the track to win races is what really sets him apart. The skillset he brings to the engineering of his race cars translates to a more complete understanding of his position during competition. This engineering and design talent that Cam brings to his performance on the track will now be extended into watchmaking, as both Towson's engineering team and Cam's have begun to work in close collaboration on the concept of design for a TWC 2022 limited edition series.
