TWC has established itself as a figurehead in American fine watchmaking over the past 25 years by establishing its three limited edition collections that remain consistent, yet innovative over time. Every TWC timepiece is one of a hundred, and once sold out, never produced again. Some of TWC 's finest creations were only made for a select few, and not seen by many more. In this journal, we give you a look at past works so you can explore the rich history of TWC.

BAY PILOT

The Bay Pilot’s unique nautical character has utilitarian intentions, as it was designed for the seasoned harbor experts of the Chesapeake Bay, responsible for guiding large ships into safe passage. The instrument’s wide and luminous display provides clear readability in all light conditions, while the high-grade 42mm stainless steel case, water proof to 5 ATM, ensures everlasting durability. We have also implemented a large crown for easy adjustment. The Bay Pilot is powered by a manual 17 jewel manual-wound Unitas/ETA Cal. 6498 movement that can be viewed through the sapphire crystal exhibitionist case-back. The rare Unitas/ETA movement pays tribute to early innovations in American watchmaking , as its former version was a breakthrough work of horological technology in the USA a century ago. Production limited to 100 pieces.

A reconstructed high grade 17 jewel Unitas Cal. 6498 manual movement is skeletonized , engraved and decorated with rose gold, platinum or various other options. The plate is engine turned and rhodium plated. The stainless steel case has a diameter of 42mm and width of 12mm. TD100-S1

The Towson Driver is a limited production heritage piece that takes a look back at early 20th century American timepieces designed for usage on the road. The off-centered dial allows for a clearer read when the hand is placed in the proper automobile steering position. This timepiece is yet another that was produced in collaboration with Jochen Benzinger, the master guilloche artist out of Germany and longtime friend of TWC founder, Hartwig Balke. The outer dial is made of solid sterling silver, with applied black indices atop of the elegant brushed finish. The inner dial is uniquely skeletonized, exhibiting a dynamic layout of hand-guilloche outer-dials that overlap with one another, forming a sense of single-plane sculptural abstraction. The skeletonized dial also features rose gold elements, adding a formal elegance to the timepiece. Last but least, a lone second hand, painted in red, completes the complex aesthetic with a bold statement of contrasting tone. This piece is no longer available as only 20 of them were made between 2006-2010. Produced in either solid white gold or rose gold.

TC100-S3

This edition of the Towson Classic was made in a limited production of ten pieces. Featuring a 42mm stainless steel case, hand-guilloche sterling silver dial, and a 17j high-grade Swiss movement. Every component of this watch was handcrafted from start to finish, including the movement, which was taken apart and put back together with artistic custom parts made by TWC watchmakers. The traditional dial contrasts with the highly detailed movement that is glittered in sold gold embellishments, which can be admired by the sapphire crystal exhibitionist case back. This detailing was done in collaboration with Jochen Benzinger, the master dial maker and long-time TWC collaborator out of Germany.

FS50

An outstanding Full-Skeleton made back in 2019, with a limited production of 20 pieces. Each dial piece features masterful hand-guilloche, producing a dynamic, yet intricate visual on the face. A Swiss high-grade 17 jewel manual winding movement was taken apart by TWC watchmakers to skeletonize all the bridges and balance cock, engrave and plate components in white gold. The plate was engine turned and rhodium plated while gold detailing was hand applied. Every TWC Skeleton has a different artwork on the movement, some of which are rose gold plated while others are white gold. The intricacies of each movement detailing also widely vary between pieces, as some feature more spacing while others are tightly packed with decorative elements.

The 17j Cal. 6498 manual wound movement is adjusted to five positions, has a fully wound 46 hour power reserve, and exhibits a nivarox hairspring, glucydure balance, and incabloc shock absorption. Both the crown and pushers are solid 18k gold as well and water resistant to 30m. The stunning caliber 7750 movement was reassembled, engraved, gold plated and modified in-house by our master watchmaker, George Thomas. The open case back displays a bicolor, hand engraved rotor with engine turned guilloche mass. The rotor displays the crest of the Towson Watch Company. The solid silver dial and blued steel Breguet-style hands provides excellent readability and class. Functions include sweep second start, stop, re-start or reset and 30 minute and 12 hour register, plus two small windows in the 30 min. register display day and month. The case is 18k solid gold and the solid silver dial is enclosed in domed sapphire crystal. The open case back enables the view of the high grade, hand engraved Cal 7751 movement. Mission STS-99 ref. M150-B

The Mission Chronograph was the first commercial watch TWC ever made, officially launched in 2000. Back in 1999, the first Mission was created for use on the NASA space shuttle mission STS-99 in February 2000. This piece was onboard the flight, serving as the official timekeeper for Commander Gerhard P. J. Thiele and several other astronauts. This made the Mission Chronograph one of the first ever American timepieces tested and used in outer space. The self-winding chronograph exhibits a highly-decorated movement that can be seen through the open caseback. The handmade rotor is decorated in rose gold. One of these watches is currently located at the National Watch and Clock Museum, commemorating a historic moment in American horology.

HS100-G

This edition of the Gold Half Skeleton was made back in 2015, serving as the first Half Skeleton TWC made out of solid gold. As one of Towson’s most prestigious and desired offerings, the company began making the Half Skeleton in various grades of gold after several customers requested it as a bespoke piece. This particular one features a 14k solid rose gold 42mm case. Towson made five of them and they all sold via custom orders instantly, never making it to the official listing on the website. The company has produced a couple more of the past few years, but intends to keep production limited to preserve the horological artistry and exclusivity of the line.
